A practical guide to Dago365’s proposed 2027 volunteer start dates and community-led visits. Individual reservations, accommodation, return dates, approved activities and terms are confirmed through a written offer.
What is Dago365?
Dago365 is Friends of Dago’s community-led program for ethical visits, learning and reciprocal exchange in Dago, Kenya. Visits are developed with local hosts and relevant community or program leaders.
Who can inquire?
Individuals, families, diaspora visitors, universities, supervised educational groups, professional teams and community or faith groups can inquire. Standard departures are designed for 10–12 participants; groups of more than 12 can be discussed. An appropriate visit depends on local capacity, the group’s goals and preparation, and applicable safeguarding and supervision requirements.
When are the 2027 visits?
The 2027 departure start dates are confirmed and published in our departure calendar. There are 24 scheduled departures during 2027, followed by two additional departures in January 2028. The standard group size is 10–12 participants; larger groups can be discussed. To join a departure, inquire about availability and receive your written offer confirming your return date, accommodation, services and participation. Do not make nonrefundable travel purchases until your individual travel arrangements are confirmed.
How long is the standard program and what does it cost?
The adopted standard 2027 Dago365 program is a two-week visit at US$3,500 per participant. A group or custom itinerary requires its own written confirmation; the standard fee is not a quotation for every possible trip.
What does the $3,500 fee include?
The final package breakdown is specified in the written offer for your approved visit, including confirmed accommodation, meals, ground travel, relevant activities and any additional charges. Do not assume international airfare, Kenya entry authorization, vaccinations, travel insurance, safari excursions, or other optional travel is included unless the offer expressly says so.
Are accommodation and private rooms guaranteed?
No specific guest-room inventory, sleeping arrangement or private-room option is guaranteed on this website. The Odoyo family compound has a history of hosting visitors, but your host will confirm current guest facilities, shared or private occupancy, accessibility considerations, meals and water arrangements in writing before booking.
Can I bring children or organize a student group?
Please tell us the participant age range and proposed supervision when inquiring. Minors may participate only in a separately approved, appropriately supervised program with applicable permissions, safeguarding controls and hosting capacity. An inquiry is not authorization for access to local schools or children.
Can I teach, conduct research or volunteer in a clinic?
Not automatically. Education, health, research and child-facing activities require a defined role, local institutional permission, suitable credentials where needed, safeguards, and an agreed supervision and referral plan. Visitors cannot independently recruit participants or conduct unsupervised clinical or child-facing work.
How should I prepare for entry and travel health?
Entry and health requirements depend on nationality, transit route, health history and current Kenyan rules. Before booking, use official Kenyan immigration guidance, your own government’s travel information and a qualified travel-health professional. Cohort-specific arrival, insurance and emergency information is provided once the itinerary is confirmed.
Will airport pickup and a safari be arranged?
Arrival transfer and any excursions are agreed individually. Do not assume a specific airport pickup, domestic connection, private vehicle, or safari is included in the standard fee. The written itinerary identifies the transport provider, meeting arrangements, included services, and separately priced options.
What if I have dietary, mobility or other access needs?
Describe the accommodation or support you may need when making your initial inquiry, without sending medical records. Friends of Dago will consult the host about whether an appropriate and safe visit can be arranged, and confirm feasible arrangements before you commit.
May I photograph children, households or community activities?
Ask first and follow the consent rules set by local hosts, program leaders and Friends of Dago. Participation in a visit does not grant permission to record, identify or publish images or stories of children, families, patients or other community members.
How do I reserve a place?
Start with the Dago365 inquiry form. The team will discuss your proposal with local hosts and respond with the steps and, where feasible, a written visit offer. The published departure start date is confirmed, but an inquiry does not reserve a place. Your return date, lodging, payment and cancellation terms are confirmed through your written offer. Do not send payment until you receive the approved offer and official instructions.
