Volunteer & Learning Opportunities — Dago365

DAGO365 · EXPLORE LEARNING JOURNEYS

Explore volunteer and learning opportunities.

These journeys can be volunteer opportunities, too. Individuals, university teams, professional groups and community organizations may express interest in ethical, skills-based volunteering, service-learning, or simply learning alongside local hosts. When appropriate, each journey can include agreed volunteer activities matched to community priorities, visitor skills, partner consent and safeguarding requirements. Submitting an inquiry is not a confirmed volunteer placement.

Important program boundaries: Women’s Microfinance and the proposed Village Banking entries below are learning concepts only, not opportunities to handle member deposits, loans, private financial records or to establish a new group. Village Banking has not rolled out. Any future learning exchange requires the women’s and local program leaders’ agreement. The medical and sports camp is a historical theme, not a clinical volunteer placement or confirmed 2027 service.

The approved Dago365 calendar pairs 26 dates and learning themes, including two optional January 2028 dates. Browse the themes below or choose a date on the calendar. Individual visits and activity arrangements are organized with local hosts and the relevant program owners.

What “26” means: the approved Dago365 calendar contains 26 date-and-learning-theme combinations: 24 in 2027 and two optional January 2028 dates. These are not 26 independently operating community programs or 26 automatically reserved visitor places. Some themes repeat (including journeys 11 and 16). The standard 2027 program is two weeks. Program cost is shared in an individual written offer. Each visitor receives a written offer confirming their place, itinerary, accommodation, any separately arranged partner activities, inclusions and payment terms before booking.

Program guide: Explore the learning themes

Use this guide to understand learning themes that recur across the approved Dago365 calendar. An approved calendar theme does not automatically mean that every associated project is operating, that a partner-led site is open to visitors, or that a specific hands-on activity is included. Your individual itinerary specifies the hosts, learning format and any supervised participation.

Clean energy & fuel-efficient stoves

This approved Dago365 learning theme examines household cooking energy, fuel use and environmental wellbeing. It does not, by itself, announce an operating stove-distribution project or guarantee an installation, workshop or technical placement. Your written itinerary identifies the relevant hosts and any hands-on demonstration.

Dago community food systems & agro-enterprise

Approved agriculture learning themes connect to ongoing Dago community food production, including greenhouse and vegetable production, dairy, poultry, goat rearing and community gardens and crop trials. Community leaders guide each activity. The calendar approves the learning theme; the individual visit itinerary specifies any farm visits, practical work, hosts and seasonal arrangements.

Beekeeping

The approved beekeeping theme connects agriculture, livelihoods and ecosystem learning. Visiting an apiary or joining a demonstration requires trained hosts, safe conditions and seasonal suitability; your individual itinerary will specify what is included. Read the Dago beekeeping project’s documented history and current reporting status →

Older adults & disability inclusion

Explore inclusive community development and everyday dignity as an approved learning theme. This is not an offer of unsupervised caregiving. Any direct interaction requires informed consent, accessible arrangements and agreed host supervision.

Urban forestry & tree planting

Explore environmental stewardship, tree-growing and the relationship between local livelihoods and healthy places. An urban forestry project outside Dago is not automatically included in a Dago visit; any separate site, partner, timing and transport arrangements will appear in the written itinerary.

Women’s microfinance & village banking education

The calendar includes approved learning themes about women’s savings, enterprise and the design of community-led village banking. The village banking initiative has not launched. Visitors do not handle members’ deposits, loans, account records or financial decisions. Learn about the separate program-development work through the links below.

Tailoring & Threads of Hope

Threads of Hope is led by One Way Out. The approved Dago365 calendar includes learning about tailoring and women’s livelihoods, but participation in the partner-led program is agreed separately with its leaders and the local women involved. A Dago365 booking does not grant independent access to its classes or participants.

How a learning journey becomes a real visit

Tell us what you hope to learn, your skills, group profile and preferred dates. Friends of Dago consults Dago Dala Hera, local hosts and the relevant independent partners to assess capacity, suitability and safeguards. The calendar dates and learning themes are approved; the team then confirms your individual itinerary, accommodation, availability and participation requirements in writing. Clinical services, access to children, construction work, and partner-led programs are never guaranteed by this catalogue.
