Dago’s greenhouse and vegetable-growing work connects locally managed food production to children’s feeding, household nutrition and agricultural learning. Community/program leadership reports two productive greenhouses supplying vegetables to the feeding program and wider community.
What this project supports
Protected growing and community vegetable production can support meals, improve access to diverse foods and create opportunities for practical agricultural skills. Harvest volumes, crops, the share supplied to feeding, and any surplus sales should be measured through a local production register—not inferred from a proposal.
What the records show
Dago Dala Hera’s historical activity record describes a greenhouse initially received through a USAID partnership and later cared for at the children’s center. Friends of Dago donor correspondence documents Gloria S. Gladieux’s sustained greenhouse-development support in 2023–2024, linked to the Dago Kogelo Primary School feeding program. Community leadership subsequently reported two productive greenhouses. Older youth-led greenhouse and four-acre farm proposals establish planning history, but their acreage, projected yields and proposed beneficiaries are not counted here as completed results.

Dago Dala Hera and local growers guide day-to-day priorities and use of produce. Friends of Dago supports resource mobilization, partner coordination and evidence stewardship. Historical USAID-linked support and Gloria S. Gladieux’s contribution are acknowledged as stages in the pathway; neither is described as the sole owner or funder of today’s two-greenhouse system.

Dago Dala Hera’s historical Information Pool describes a greenhouse constructed through support to a DDH-associated group under the USAID-funded APHIA-PLUS program. Its statement that 30% of the proceeds would support DDH describes an intended arrangement, not a verified total transferred. The current two-greenhouse count is a separate September 2026 community-leadership report. Later donor support, including Gloria S. Gladieux’s documented 2023–2024 contribution, should be acknowledged alongside—not substituted for—the earlier community and partner stages. Track each greenhouse’s operating status, planting and harvest dates, crops and quantities, produce used in feeding, community distribution, inputs and maintenance, and locally confirmed partner support. The two-greenhouse figure is a September 2026 community/program-leadership report, not an independently reconciled harvest total.
