Community/program leadership currently reports more than 300 chickens in the wider Dago food and livelihood system. Poultry is part of the community’s locally guided food production and household enterprise.
Purpose and community benefits
Poultry can provide eggs and other food for households and feeding programs. A flock count alone does not establish the quantity of food supplied, household reach or net income.
Documented history and current context
Dago Dala Hera’s earlier record describes a chicken-coop pilot at the children’s center stocked with more than 50 chickens. The current 300+ community-reported scale is a subsequent stage, not an additional center-owned flock. Starter poultry provided to one family as part of a separate 2011 Fresh Start housing project is historical household-support evidence, not part of today’s flock count.
Leadership and partner recognition
Dago Dala Hera, local producers and participating households guide flock care and the use of food or proceeds. Friends of Dago supports agreed funding, community coordination and evidence stewardship without claiming ownership of household poultry.
Historical milestones · early poultry support and 2013 reporting
An early Dago Dala Hera community update describes a volunteer-supported poultry activity in which chickens had been introduced and 30% of production was intended for the children’s center; that is a historical plan, not a reconciled delivery total. The July 31, 2013 Dago Dala Hera committee report records poultry houses built and starter chickens provided for two families. These households may overlap with other historical housing or starter-poultry reports, so do not add the household figures without a beneficiary-level reconciliation.
