Community Vegetable Gardens & Crop Trials

PATHWAY 2 · NUTRITION, AGRICULTURE & ENVIRONMENT · COMMUNITY-REPORTED ONGOING ACTIVITY

Community/program leadership reports continuing vegetable trials and demonstration growing across Dago’s community food-system work, alongside the separately described two productive greenhouses.

Purpose and community benefits

Community gardens and crop trials connect growing skills, household nutrition, child feeding and seasonal resilience. Different sites and crops should be tracked separately so one successful demonstration is not treated as community-wide production.

Documented history and current context

The current Pathway 2 evidence brief documents repeated vegetable trials and locally reported greenhouse production. Historic proposals for a four-acre farm and youth-led greenhouse tomato project demonstrate planning history; proposed acreage, yields, revenue and beneficiaries are not counted here as completed results.

Leadership and partner recognition

Dago Dala Hera, community growers and local households lead planting, care and decisions about use of produce. Friends of Dago’s involvement in particular sites is reported according to its documented funding, technical or coordination role.

Reporting and evidence

Track gardens and demonstration sites, crops and seasons, planted areas, harvests, food delivered to feeding, household use, inputs, irrigation and any separately verified sales. No unsupported yield or income totals are published.
